The First Step
by

This poem is about new beginnings. It is inspired by a motto that I live by: "One day or day one. You decide." Ultimately, all it takes is that very first step, even if it is a very small one, because it will make all the difference.

The sun rises, stretching its golden arms
over the quiet hush of yesterday.
The earth hums with something unspoken,
a whisper of promise in the wind.
The past lingers - familiar, weighty -
its echoes resting in the folds of memory.
But today is a doorway, wide and waiting,
a threshold aching to be crossed.
Not all beginnings start with thunder,
not all roads reveal their end.
Some unfold like petals in the morning,
slow, uncertain, reaching for light.
So step forward, even if gently,
even if your hands still tremble.
The world is vast, the sky is open,
and you-
you are just beginning.
